Confessions among baptists carry the weight of a doctrinal statement. Many of our Baptist doctrinal statements are a re-working of one of the main American confessions. In most cases it is the New Hampshire Confession. I have included many of our Baptist confessions here including some that are from historical baptist groups, that is those which have a link to modern day baptists. Our position as baptists is contingent on Sola Scriptura as far as our beliefs are concerned. However, this does not mean that we go without any kind of doctrinal statement. In a mater of fact a doctrinal statement is necessary to give expression to what we believe, it is not to be taken as authoritative, but it is a way of putting down in writing what we believe.
